3 Days Tour Athens - Vergina - Meteora - Delfi - Athens

We will first reach Vergina, almost 5 hours away from Athens. The town became internationally famous in 1977, when the Greek archaeologist Manolis Andronikos unearthed the burial site of the kings of Macedon, including the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The finds established the site as the ancient Aigai.

Our next stop will be Meteora which is arround 1,5 hour away from Vergina. We will eat and spend the night there and the following morning we will tour it. One of the most interesting places to visit in Greece is Meteora. Not only because of the beautiful, breathtaking views but also because of the 6 unique monasteries: Agiou Nikolaou monastery (St. Nickolas Anapausas), Agias Varvaras Rousanou monastery (St. Barbara), Varlaam monastery, Megalou Meteorou monastery (Great Meteoron), Agias Triados monastery (Holy Trinity), Agiou Stefanou monastery (St. Stephen, the only monastery for women).

After the tour in Meteora, we will head towards Delphi in order to visit its archaeological sites: the Sanctuary of Apollo, and the Sanctuary of Athena with the Tholos, as well as the museum. In ancient times it was the site of the most important oracle of the god Apollo. Delphi was considered to be the centre of the universe. After the battle of Plataea, the Greek cities extinguished their fires and brought new fire from the hearth of Greece, at Delphi.

Finally we will begin our return journey towards Athens.
